Verger Croque-pomme is a small farm located in the Petite-Nation region, between Thurso and Masson.
The apple orchard undertaker is oriented towards the discovery and production of hardy varieties of apples for pick your own it is possilbe to get in season. The orchard is divided into two parts. The southern part contains varieties resistant to major disease of apple scab either. This resistance allows a significant reduction in fungicide use and gives this part of a strongly ecological orchard. The northern part consists of conventional varieties such as McIntosh and Cortland.
Recently, an artisanal cider was added, the first in the area. The five following ciders are produced:
Fortified ice cider. Sweet, soft and generous, bright yellow, in 20% alcohol, with a strong smell of apple flavor. It can be served as an aperitif or digestif. Ice cider made using cryoextraction and cryoconcentration on apples frozen outside. Very sweet, soft and generous, 10.5% alcohol and with a complex mix of tastes. It has a perfect balance between natural sugar and apple acidity. It is eaten alone as an aperitif. It goes well with pâté, foie gras, game and poultry, spicy foods, fine cheeses, goat or sheep, cream cheese and brie. Semi-dry, light, fresh (drinkable) and bright yellow. It has 10% alcohol and a slight amerture. Served chilled, it goes well with pancakes, fish, white meats and sauces béchamels.
